Holding a standalone cups and balls convention seems to me to be somewhat pretentious. However, there is a chance that if people could come on Labor Day, we could have a group get together for one day, just to discuss and perform the cups and balls.

There will be a major magic convention in Houston in 2009, ending on Labor Day at noon. The hotel is already booked, the place has plenty of meeting rooms and is very easy to get to from all airports. It would be very easy for someone to come to the convention and stay one day extra for a "cups and balls extension."
